By Way of Introduction…
I am a piano teacher with over 25 years of teaching experience. I was classically trained in piano, music instruction, and accompaniment at the Music Institute of Russia after which I worked at Children’s Academy of Music. Upon moving to Texas I opened up my own studio in Houston. I also worked at the prestigious former Suzuki Music School of Houston from 2000 to 2015 teaching children and adults of all ages.
I recently moved from Texas to California and I am really enjoying the golden state! I have one daughter who graduated from Oxford University and is working as a lawyer in London. I love to watch foreign films, attend the orchestra and symphony concerts, travel and try new ethnic food!
My Background
My musical education began in Russia at an early age. I was accepted into the prestigious Belarus Music School for Gifted and Talented Children at the age of 6. After completing intensive training in piano performance and theory, I went on to complete my professional qualifications at the Music Institute of Russia. There I was classically trained in piano, music instruction, and accompaniment. Soon after I began teaching at a notable Children’s Academy of Music before moving the United States in 1993.
I always knew I wanted to teach this amazing instrument. And so I have been teaching students both in the USA and internationally for as long as I can remember!
My Teaching Philosophy
Teaching is my passion and I believe that children gain so much more than just the beautiful skill of tickling the ivories. I love helping students achieve their goals. I enjoy watching them succeed and explore their talents in piano. My students perform at several musicales and recitals every year to demonstrate their skills and receive recognition for their hard work. I take pride in getting them ready for their debuts and encouraging their interest in different kinds of musical pieces and genres. Those interested in putting in the extra effort for competitions can be entered into those as well.
Please see the Performance Opportunities section for more information.
Career and Professional Activities
Upon moving to the United States, I worked at the former Suzuki Music School of Houston from 2000-2015 with the renowned Ms Yelena Kurinets, teacher of the 5 Browns. There I instructed students in piano, piano performance, and theory. I am currently partnered with the well-known TakeLessons company and the Julian Charter Schools.
I hold several professional memberships including HMTA, MTNA, and TMTA music teacher associations. I am a proud guest performer at benefit galas and fundraising events, the most recent being one for MD Anderson Cancer Research. Through them I expand my professional horizons and take part in some very important causes. I am trained in both Traditional and Suzuki methods and alternate between them based on my students’ needs.
For more information regarding the Suzuki Method please see The Suzuki Method section of the website.
